 Trivia and Player Notes
Steve Sax was known for his all-out hustle and enthusiasm for the game. In 1982, Sax became the 4th consecutive member of the Dodgers to become Rookie of the Year. He batted .282 while stealing 49 bases. He finished in the top 10 in batting in both 1986 and 1989, and was a perennial fixture among the top 10 in hits (6 times), stolen bases (8 times), and at-bats (8 times). Despite being maligned for his throwing problems early in his career, Sax was second among all AL second baseman from 1989-1991 with a .988 fielding percentage, and led the league in 1989 at .987. Sax finished his career in 1994 with a solid .281 average, and 12 years later is still 50th all-time with 444 stolen bases.

In high school, Sax was named All-American, All-California, All-City, All-League and earned MVP honors.

Made a guest voice appearance in an episode of "The Simpsons" called Homer at the Bat where Homer's boss Mr. Burns assembles a team of ringers to compete in a corporate baseball league to insure a championship. The 9 Major Leaguers are given jobs at Mr. Burns' Nuclear Plant, enabling them to qualify for the team. Each of the players endures a serious injury before the final game forcing the team's real employees to take over and setting the stage for Homer to be a hero where he is hit by a pitch to force in the winning run. Sax would be incorrectly charged by Chief Wiggum for all of Springfield's unsolved crimes and faced 6 consecutive life sentences.

Sax also appeared in an episode of "Who's the Boss?". Since he retired, Sax has dabbled in politics, worked as a baseball analyst for Fox Sports, and is currently a financial advisor in the Sacramento area.

Notes: Member of the World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers in 1981 and 1988....Played in 5 All-Star games during his career (1982-1983, 1986, 1989-1990)
