 Trivia and Player Notes
Made a guest voice appearance in an episode of "The Simpsons" called Homer at the Bat where Homer's boss Mr. Burns assembles a team of ringers to compete in a corporate baseball league to insure a championship. The 9 Major Leaguers are given jobs at Mr. Burns' Nuclear Plant, enabling them to qualify for the team. Each of the players endures a serious injury before the final game forcing the team's real employees to take over and setting the stage for Homer to be a hero where he is hit by a pitch to force in the winning run. Smith was a scratch during the final game after falling into a bottomless pit.

Notes: Member of the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals in 1982...Ozzie's son Nico was a finalist on Fox's American Idol in 2005....Played in 15 All-Star games during his career (1981-1992, 1994-1996)
