Landreaux was a first round selection of the California Angels in 1976, going 6th overall after playing at Arizona State University, where as a junior he led the Sun Devils to the College World Series. Despite being so highly touted and being named TSN's Minor League Player of the Year in 1977 after hitting .359 at Salt Lake City, Landreaux never turned into a superstar in the major leagues and instead became a very useful player who did everything well. A very good contact hitter with good speed and decent power, Landreaux made an impact in his first game when he threw out 3 runners from the outfield. His best season came in 1979 with the Twins when he hit .305 with 83 rbis. He had a 5-hit game in 1983 and in 1980, had a 31 game hitting streak during which he hit .392. On July 3, 1980, Landreaux had another big game when he hit 3 triples in a 10-3 win over the Texas Rangers. Landreaux is a cousin of Enos Cabell. After his playing career, Landreaux spent some time as coach when he spent time with Hagerstown from 1999-2000 and the Syracuse Skychiefs from 2001-2004. Notes: Played in 1 All-Star game during his career (1980)....Minor League Player of the Year in 1977...Member of the Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championship team in 1981. He was mainly a pinch-hitter during that series after hitting just .167 in the first 2 rounds. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
