A top prospect in the Astros organization during the late 1980's, Drew excelled at every level of minor league ball. In 1986 he was named the South Atlantic League's MVP while leading the league in home runs and and RBI. In 1987 the former first round draft pick continued his to show his promise with the AA Columbus Astros of the Southern League, hitting 17 home runs and driving in 70. In 1988 his season at AAA Tucson was interrupted for a few weeks while he nursed an inflammed knee. Drew eventually came back that season and after hitting .356 at Tucson earned a September call-up to Houston. While with the Astros, Drew was shut down yet again with knee problems which were believed to have stemmed from his days as a basketball star with the University of New Haven. This would prove to be the end of Drew's baseball career. He never surfaced again in pro-ball after his brief stint with the Astros. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
