Signed with Red Sox prior to the June '93 draft as a free agent for $35,000. Injured in automobile accident (broken neck) in 1993. After extensive rehab joined the Ft. Myers Red Sox in 1994. Promoted to Michigan (Midwest League) in spring training 1995. Led the team in strikeouts and wins in'95. Attended Southern Union Junior College in Wadley, Alabama. Played for legendary coach Joe Jordan from 1991-1993. Attended Westside High School in Augusta, Georgia and played for Gerald Barnes (winningest Baseball coach in GA) from 1988-1991. Brother John played for North Carolina State University football team.
