| Highest Level Reached is a value assigned to each player within The Baseball Cube's player database based on available statistical data. The stats considered for a player's highest level include batting and pitching statistics listed on the site. Highest level is determined by finding the highest league according to the chart below: MLB AAA AA A+ Advanced-level "A" A A- Short-Season "A" Rookie International Independent College - A value of "-" indicates no statistics are available for the player but it does not mean that the player never played beyond high school. See Player Inclusion Rules to see why his stats might not be listed. There is possibly some debate as to where Independent baseball fits into the rankings but the idea is that the affiliated minor leagues is the primary path to the majors and by including Rookie ball ahead of Indy ball, it is easier to see how a player's career progressed. Independent baseball can be a place for former major leaguers or players out of college so it is difficult to rank this class before any affiliated league. |
