Undrafted Free Agents
Undrafted free agents are players who are either inlegible for the MLB Amateur Entry draft due to geographical location or who were bypassed in the draft and elected to sign afterwards as a Free Agent. The rules for signing with a team in the International Pool are different than the MLB draft. Teams are still allocated a salary cap for international signings based on their standings of the prior season. The process of signing these free agents is always controversial since the leverage on the side of the athlete is quite low since they don't have a lot of options and often a poor financial status.
TBC Tracks undrafted free agent signings and bonuses where possible. Its not a complete dataset and may not even be a dataset worth purchasing since it is nowhere near complete. Bonuses are typically published for more recent signees of higher value. The lower valued signings are not always published and certainly for years prior to early 2010s, the signing bonus is almost always unpublished unless for high profile players. Undrafted signings can sometimes be estimated based on first pro season and first pro team and might not necessarily be 100% accurate.
