High School Stats

There are many things to know about the high school statistics on The Baseball Cube. The high school data on the site is a unique dataset on TBC. It is not only incomplete in that TBC has captured about 55% of statistics and 86% of Stats or Roster information for a given team, it is also not even guaranteed to be accurate. The data is accumulated through various sources and I cannot be certain that these sources are accurate. The assumption is, at the least, that the data is close. There is nothing stopping a team from posting their own stats and inflating a player's numbers for the purpose of attracting the attention of scouts. It is also possible that the stats for a given team is incomplete. Perhaps they played 35 games but there are stats for only 21 games. The High School stats project is ambitious but also impossible. It is the Wild West of statistics. Take them with a grain of salt.

But the attempt is there. There are more than 15,000 high schools in the US and it is impossible that we have tracked all of these schools. The process is to start from the most recent year and work backwards and to include stats or roster information wherever possible. When the new season is complete, we will start from the new season. The data will skew towards the present. Some schools will go back further than others. Many schools do not report rosters or stats. Many schools do not report stats. Many schools do. A parallel ongoing projects is to link the player's roster or stats information to their player profile page and therefore, if you are a TBC PREMIUM subscriber, you may see high school information appear withint the player's stats grid. In addition, you can view a school's information by year. You can also view school history on the individual High School pages.

Like I said, its an ambitious project with virtually unlimited data. The collection plan is to add about 15-30 school/seasons a day. The ambition is centered around injecting this data into the player's stats history and providing a FULL amateur/pro history for a given player. A unique view of a player's history available only on TBC.
